Sustainability
Environmental Contribution Activities
The GLTECHNO Group strives to conserve resources and energy through its business operations, and promotes business activities with a low environmental impact. We also reduce pollutants such as waste and chemicals, and prevent environmental pollution of the air, oceans, water, and soil.
Use of renewable energy
All electricity used at the Fukushima Factory of GL Sciences Inc. is generated using 100% renewable energy sources.
Waste material cycle
At GL Sciences, we are working to separate and recover waste liquids generated during the manufacturing process. The separated and collected waste liquid is entrusted to an industrial waste treatment company for processing. Approximately 30% of it is recycled and used as an alternative raw material for cement and other products. In the future, we would like to further promote the separation and recovery of waste liquids and work to reduce the amount of solvent used, thereby contributing to reducing the burden on the environment.
Thermal recycling of plastics
GL Sciences is working on the thermal recycling of waste plastic. At each work site, waste is separated into "recyclable" and "non-recyclable" items. The recyclable items are entrusted to industrial waste disposal companies for recycling as fuel for power plants. Employees' awareness of waste separation has also improved, and the recycling rate has remained above 80% every year. We aim to continue to improve our recycling rate and contribute to reducing the burden on the environment.
Utilizing the J-Credit Scheme
This project was launched by Yamagata Prefecture as part of its efforts to combat global warming, utilizing the national J-Credit Scheme, a greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme. The proceeds from the purchase of the credits will be used for environmental conservation projects within Yamagata Prefecture.
Reducing CO2 emissions
Techno Quartz regularly installs and updates production equipment with the aim of reducing energy consumption by improving work efficiency and productivity.
